ADAM Audio – A German Precision Tool Maker

In the beginning, ADAM Audio monitors were only known by insiders among working professionals in the recording industry. After only fifteen years, our monitors have earned a worldwide reputation as the preeminent tool for sound engineers based on technological innovations that we’ve established in the field of loudspeaker technology. Most importantly, these innovations are fundamental to what most distinguishes a monitor – its sonic characteristics.

The most basic and well known of these innovations is the ADAM proprietary eXtended Accelerating Ribbon Technology: Each ADAM speaker uses X-ART drivers that are all handmade and calibrated in our own manufacturing facility in Berlin. With their nearly at frequency response up to 50kHz, X-ART drivers are largely responsible for the natural, realistic sound of the ADAM speakers.

ADAM Audio’s engineering innovations are not limited to our proprietary X-ART technology, but also include other areas of loudspeaker design such as high technology diaphragm materials, the development and application of high-class ampliers, the coupling of drivers and cabinets, control panels and more.

Voicings

A “Voicing” is a pre-defined sound profile of an A Series monitor. On the back panel, you will find two different selections, “UNR” and “Pure”.

Automated Room Correction with Sonarworks

ADAM Audio is proud to partner with Sonarworks on an automated room correction solution that runs directly on the DSP of A Series monitors.

Room Adaptation

On the back panel of A Series speakers, you will find four bands of room adaptation equalization: Bass, Desk, Presence and Treble.

Digital Signal Processing

The A Series capitalizes on the transformative power of DSP-based electronics to provide greater tuning precision than analog-only speakers.

Hybrid Amplification

The A Series combines the best of both digital and analog worlds.

Midrange Driver

A Series midrange drivers deliver clean sound in the critical part of the frequency range where humans are especially sensitive to coloration of sound.

Bass Reflex System, Cabinets and Mounting

The new A Series cabinets build on the heritage of ADAM Audio and the AX Series in particular.

Rotatable HPS Waveguide & X-ART Tweeter

Made from a new glass fiber polymer compound, the HPS waveguide enables the X-ART tweeter to disperse sound in space with controlled consistency.

A Control Remote Software

The DSP-based functionality of all A Series monitors can be controlled remotely and in real time over ethernet using A Control.

U-ART Tweeter

The U-ART 1.9” tweeter design is based on that used in the X-ART and S-ART tweeters employed respectively in the AX Series and S Series monitors.

S-ART Tweeter

All the models in the S Series employ the latest iteration of ADAM's world-famous X-ART tweeter, each handmade in Berlin, Germany.

S Series Amplifiers

The S Series low- and mid-range drivers are powered by Class-D ICE power amps, specially developed low-noise 50W Class A/B amp powers the S-ART on S2 & S3.

S Series Bass Reflex System

S Series Bass Reflex tubes and ports have been redesigned to reduce friction- and turbulence-related coloration and incorporate additional anti-resonance technology.

S Series Cabinets

S Series cabinets are weightily constructed from thick, heavy material to reduce susceptibility to vibrations, while their rounded edges help to minimize unwanted edge-diffraction effect.

SMA

Custom-designed magnet assembly which allows the voice coil a maximum excursion three times greater than that offered by previous designs, with an extended, symmetrical magnetic field ensuring linear, low-distortion operation.

ELE BASS DRIVER

Custom-built bass driver created specifically for the S Series, using ADAM Audio's engineering design experience and the latest computer modeling techniques.

High Performance DSP Module

Custom DSP engine implements perfect crossovers for optimal frequency response and maximum dynamic range, in addition to EQ options and presets for in-room optimization.

MPS Waveguide

On the S5H and S5V, the DCH mid-range driver is set into an additional waveguide, the MPS (Mid-range Propagation System), which ensures that dispersion remains wide and smooth even over longer listening distances.

DCH Midrange Driver

A self-developed, groundbreaking one-piece hybrid dome/cone design, offering the sonic advantages of both driver types, with minimal partial resonances.

HPS Waveguide

The S-ART tweeter comprises the latest iteration of ADAM’s respected folded accelerated ribbon design, produced to tighter tolerances than ever before, and featuring a newly designed, solid aluminum waveguide (HPS), which makes dispersion more consistent and imaging more stable over a wider area
